Yi Luo

Yi Luo, male, born in February 1960, is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a professor at Shenzhen University, a professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, and a deputy director of the National Research Center for Information Science and Technology in Beijing. Mr. Luo received his B.S. degree from Tsinghua University in 1983. M.S. degree from the University of Tokyo in 1987. Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo in 1990. Research Fellow at the Central Research Institute of Nippon Kohki Measurement Technology Development Co., in April 1990-March 1992. Professor, Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, since December 1992. Director, State Key Joint Laboratory of Integrated Optoelectronics, in 1997-2012. Elected as Academician, Chinese Academy of Engineering, in 2021.

Academician Yi Luo mainly researches compound semiconductor optoelectronic devices and their integrated application technologies, including lasers, LEDs, optical modulators, and photodetectors, and their applications in fiber optic communications, broadband information sensing, and semiconductor lighting. He has published 367 academic papers and 34 authorized invention patents. He has won three second-class awards for national technological inventions and one second-class award for national scientific and technological progress.
